Cremation Services FAQ

Cremation Services FAQ

  • How long must we wait after their death before we can cremate a family member?

Unlike burial, cremation is irreversible. This requires us to be "extra diligent" in obtaining cremation authorization from the legally identified next-of-kin, as well as those from a local Coroner.

  • How much will I have to pay for the cremation?

Affordable Cremation Services simple cremation package is $1,799.00.  There may be other services required or selected by you that would be additional.  Please review our Price List.  That list details the actual cost of our cremation services, which is a combination of our basic professional services fee,  the merchandise required or selected by you, the fee charged by the crematorium and government fees and taxes.

  • Can I participate in the cremation?

Yes, under normal circumstances, family may be present to witness the cremation.  There will be additional fees for doing so.

  • Can I purchase an urn from another source, or must I buy one from you?

Yes you may provide your own urn purchased elsewhere. However, Affordable Cremation Services will not transfer the cremated remains into any urn or container that has not been provided by us.

  • What should I do with my loved one's cremated remains?

Again, as we've said elsewhere, the word "should" need not be part of our conversation. There are many things you can do with their cremated remains–including simply taking them home with you for safekeeping. There may come a time when you know exactly what you'd like to do with them, but it may not be right now. Be patient; the right way to care for them will surface in time. After all, there are a lot of options from keeping hem at home, placing them in a cemetery to scattering them.

No.  Affordable Cremation Services is not permitted under its licensing to perform embalming.  We are permitted to close the eyes and mouth and bath the deceased for a family identification.

  • How long will it take to cremate my family member?

The timeline to return the cremated remains to you once the cremation has been authroized is typically 3 to 4 business days. The actual cremation process take between 2 to 4 hours depending on a number of factors such as size and the composition of the container.

  • What kind of fuel is used in the cremation?

Most commonly, families will ask to place notes, children's drawings, or other personal messages of love; but we've certainly had some unusual requests (such as the inclusion of a cherished pet's collar or treasured keepsake). The items must be combustable.

  • Why must I pay for these items at the time of arrangement?
